CHOP HORIZONTAL

Finding the balance of support between right and left

Andrew Krysciak, 2025

Wood, rope, metal fasteners

39 x 26 x 47 cm

Two stools, strong in their individuality, evoke both rupture and reconciliation. The design reminds us to be observant and opportunistic in creating opportunities to mend, connect, and rebuild.

Every element of this piece—the wood for the seat and backrest comes from existing chairs, the legs were salvaged from a familiar chair, and the cables and fasteners are all secondhand. Found broken and abandoned on the streets of Paris, this chair was designed to inspire a new feeling and a new joy.
